Earl Graham Kirkley
Earl Graham Kirkley, 90, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born November 30, 1922 in Savannah, GA to the late Richard Daniel Kirkley and Nora Powell Kirkley. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Savannah, where he served as a Life Deacon and a Sunday School teacher. Earl attended Armstrong State College and was a CW03 in the Georgia National Guard. He was a Mason, a Shriner, a volunteer with Candler Hospital, a White Bluff Elementary Media volunteer, and a member of Military Order of World Wars. He was Past President of the Chatham Artillery, a WWII Veteran who served on the beaches of Normandy, participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded the Distinguished Foreign Service Medal. He was also a member of the Military Officers Association of America.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Kirkley, and his sister, Lucille Kirkley.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Florrie Malphrus Kirkley, of Savannah, daughters, Kathryn Kirkley Harper Julius, of Darien, GA, Janet Kirkley King, of Savannah, GA, Sandra Kirkley Albrecht Garry, of Lawrenceville, GA, and Susan Kirkley Sailer Kenneth, of Lawrenceville, GA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Caroline Elise King, of Decatur, GA, Nicole Christen Albrecht, Michael Graham Albrecht, Samantha Elise Sailer, and Sabrina Lee Sailer, all of Lawrenceville, GA.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Savannah.
Burial will be in Bonaventure Cemetery with military honors.
Remembrances may be made to First Baptist Church of Savannah, 223 Bull Street, Savannah, GA 31401.
